"All Are Broken" is Officially Done.
For everyone that has followed my writing for the past year or so, thanks for the support. I was pretty excited about putting out my first book, "Broken Bits." Not nearly as much as I have been waiting for this one to hit the shelves. It has a much deeper and much more personal meaning to me. I have mixed feelings today though. I'm still pretty furious with my publisher and the price tags their marketing team thinks of as acceptable. I've always understood that is completely out of my hands, but hell, that doesn't mean I have to like it. |
I'm still very conflicted. I have sales already coming in from "Broken Bits" and that makes me happy, and mad at them all over again. I'm sure that I will soon have sales from "All Are Broken" too. It was very popular in the 2011 Watty Awards and I see it doing well now that it is in print. I just have a hard time standing behind a $19.95 tag on a book, even if it's a hardcover.
I feel like I"m shooting myself in the foot by arguing with my publisher about it though. So I'm going to open my links back up for sales, and hope that in time they will lower the prices a bit. I'm sure they will eventually. Needless to say, with all the various troubles, and lack of a cohesive vision with them, I won't be working with them on any future projects.
I'm well into my newest novel, "The Wasting Void" and plan on releasing that myself. I figure with how popular eBooks are becoming that it might be interesting and beneficial to learn as much about the market as I can. So I have been. I've learned how to use Sigil and Calibre through some time and a little help from Google. I've gotten good with formatting. I've also started designing eBook covers with some success as well.
At this point I'm very confident that by the time I'm finished with "Wasting Void" I'll be more than ready to convert it into quality eBook for all formats. One that is affordable; because quality and affordability should not be mutually exclusive.
